Our Privacy Policy at SafeMe
At SafeMe, we deeply value the contributions of our supporters. Whether you’re donating, interning, or volunteering, you help us create a safer world. We aim to build trust with our community by being transparent about our privacy practices and adhering to all relevant regulations. Below, you will find details about our programs, financial limitations, and other important factors you should know before getting involved.
Internship Opportunities
Our internship programs provide students and professionals with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social work, advocacy, and digital platforms supporting our cause. Interns should understand that, due to strict financial rules in Nepal, any compensation or stipends will be managed in compliance with national and international financial regulations regarding privacy and data handling.
We encourage interns to:
- Actively engage in learning and be flexible with limited resources.
- Share innovative ideas to improve our impact.
- Help amplify our cause on social media and networks while respecting the privacy of individuals.
Volunteer Programs
Volunteers are essential to our mission. We encourage people both locally and internationally to contribute their time and skills. Due to Nepal’s stringent financial policies, international volunteers should be aware of the financial limitations in case of reimbursement of expenses or related support.
As a volunteer, you’ll:
- Receive training on SafeMe’s mission and processes.
- Be a part of a growing community dedicated to ending violence and abuse, ensuring that we respect the privacy of all involved.
- Assist with on-the-ground or virtual campaigns to expand our outreach.
Donations Policy
We deeply appreciate the generosity of individuals and organizations that choose to donate to SafeMe. Your contributions allow us to sustain our projects and expand our efforts to help those in need. However, due to restrictions set by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and the Government of Nepal, we are subject to several limitations when it comes to handling international donations.
-
Non-Refundable Donations
As per the policies of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), donations made to SafeMe are non-refundable. This is due to the following reasons:
- Foreign Exchange Restrictions: We are permitted to use a dollar card with a maximum limit of $500 per year for international transactions. This strict cap makes it difficult to handle refunds or return donations.
- Loan Accounts Requirement: We are required to operate international trade and donation accounts through Loan Accounts, which restricts our financial flexibility.
- Nepal’s Regulatory Framework: Local laws require that all charitable funds be handled through official accounts, and any unused funds must be reinvested in local charitable activities, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
-
How Your Donations Are Used
We guarantee that all donations will be utilized for charitable purposes. Contributions support:
- Community Outreach: Awareness campaigns, workshops, and programs aimed at reducing violence.
- Victim Support: Providing direct assistance to victims of violence, such as counseling, medical care, and legal support, all while ensuring their privacy.
- Infrastructure Development: Building platforms and resources for better outreach, victim assistance, and advocacy.
By donating, you accept that your funds are put towards these projects and acknowledge that refunds cannot be processed.
-
Nepal’s Financial Regulations
Nepal has a unique set of financial rules that limit how organizations like SafeMe can operate internationally. These include:
- A strict cap on foreign exchange via dollar cards ($500/year).
- The requirement to use Loan Accounts for handling foreign funds.
- Limits imposed by Nepal Rastra Bank to prevent misuse of funds, ensuring that all financial resources are utilized for charity within the country, while respecting privacy.
Data Privacy and Security
We take data privacy and security very seriously. As part of our commitment to protecting your personal information:
- Secure Payment Gateways: We use trusted, encrypted payment gateways to process donations. Although our options are limited, we ensure that your data is safe and your privacy is maintained.
- Personal Information: Any personal details collected from donors, volunteers, or interns will not be shared with third parties without your consent. We comply with all local and international data privacy laws.
- Volunteer and Intern Data: We only collect essential information necessary to process your applications, and this data will remain confidential to ensure privacy.
Transparency and Accountability
Transparency is at the core of SafeMe’s operations. We believe in being open about how we use funds and resources. To ensure full accountability:
- Annual Reports: We release annual reports detailing our income, expenditures, and the impact of our projects. These reports are available to the public on our website.
- Project Updates: Donors and supporters will receive regular updates on the progress of our campaigns and the people we are helping, always respecting privacy.
- Exclusive Access for Donors: Large donors will be given access to a special section on our website where they can view detailed information about ongoing projects, including reports, pictures, and data about their contributions’ impact.
Impact Reporting
We are committed to showing the results of your contributions. Every donation helps save lives and create real change. We track all the projects you support and provide the following:
- Detailed Progress Reports: Reports will include the number of individuals impacted, the services provided, and the tangible effects on the community while ensuring their privacy.
- Success Stories: We’ll share stories of survivors and communities who have benefited from your donations, giving you a clear understanding of the lives your contributions have changed.
Disclaimer on Financial Limitations
Please be aware that, while we strive to maintain the highest levels of transparency and accountability, Nepal Rastra Bank’s financial regulations heavily restrict how we manage international donations. By donating, volunteering, or interning with SafeMe, you acknowledge these limitations and understand that certain financial transactions (e.g., refunds) cannot be processed due to legal constraints.
