CYMA Nepal Orphanage

CYMA Nepal Orphanage: A Sanctuary for Hope and Growth 1999-2024
Established in 1999 and transformed under the dedicated leadership of Mr. Padam Bahadur Shrestha in 2006 AD, CYMA Nepal Orphanage, also known as the Sima Children and Youth Mobilization Academy, stands as a vital lifeline for homeless and parentless children in Nepal. Mr. Shrestha’s personal journey is a testament to the power of compassion and resilience. He has devoted his life and savings to creating a nurturing home where children can find safety, education, and a chance for a brighter future.
Born in the rural village of Sindhupalchowk, Mr. Shrestha faced numerous hardships during his childhood. These experiences ignited a passion in him to help those who find themselves in similar circumstances. He often reflects, “If I had a sponsor during my childhood, I could have completed my education and realized my potential.” This conviction fuels his mission at CYMA Nepal, as he strives to provide the support and opportunities he yearned for as a child.
After relocating to Kathmandu, Mr. Shrestha embarked on a new path, starting a small steel fabrication business. His success in this venture enabled him to open the doors of the CYMA Nepal Orphanage, where he now lovingly cares for around 40 children. Each child is treated as a member of his family, receiving not just basic necessities but also love, guidance, and encouragement to dream big.
At CYMA Nepal, education is at the forefront of the mission. The children benefit from a structured learning environment that fosters their intellectual and emotional development. They receive comprehensive support—healthcare, clothing, shelter, and emotional guidance—ensuring that their fundamental needs are met. The orphanage provides a safe haven where children can heal from past traumas, develop skills, and build self-esteem, all of which are crucial for their long-term success.
However, the journey has not been without its challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic dealt a severe blow to the orphanage’s funding, pushing the organization to the brink of collapse. Last year, the lack of financial support nearly shuttered the doors of CYMA Nepal. The economic repercussions of the pandemic have created a pressing need for resources to continue caring for these vulnerable children.
To sustain its mission, CYMA Nepal is actively seeking donations and partnerships from generous individuals and organizations. Every contribution, no matter how modest, can make a profound difference in the lives of these children. Donations help provide essential items such as food, clothing, medical care, and educational resources, ensuring that the children’s needs are met.
Moreover, CYMA Nepal invites volunteers and advocates who wish to contribute their time, skills, and expertise to this noble cause. By collaborating with local and international partners, the organization aims to raise awareness about the plight of orphaned children in Nepal and mobilize resources to effect meaningful change.
The vision of CYMA Nepal extends beyond immediate care; it encompasses a commitment to creating sustainable pathways for the children’s futures. Mr. Shrestha envisions a world where every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive and reach their potential.
If you believe in the power of community and the importance of providing a safe haven for children, consider supporting CYMA Nepal Orphanage. Your generosity can help create a ripple effect of change, transforming lives and offering hope to those who need it most. Together, we can ensure that these children are not just surviving, but thriving, equipped with the skills and support they need to build a brighter tomorrow.
